We love Peter James and we think the feeling is mutual…

in Peter James
We are very flattered that Peter James has based two of his key characters at Strawberry Fields B&B in ‘Want You Dead’, the latest book in the Roy Grace series.
We continue to enjoy the association of Strawberry Fields and Want You Dead – sometimes from some surprising sources, my USA based MBA tutor of 20 years ago got in touch as a result of hearing about it from a couple of my ex British Airways colleagues, which is lovely. We also owe Peter a belated thank you for his lovely endorsement in support of us:
”Strawberry Fields B&B is a gem! Beautiful, elegant and its owners really have a passion for their City, and take pride in ensuring that all their guests get the best from their visit. Such a delight to find personal service and a wonderful individual place for visitors to stay rather than some of the corporate establishments.”

Dead Simple the play
We recently had the chance to go and see the gala performance of the play of ‘Dead Simple’, the first book in the Roy Grace series. This has been a long held ambition for Peter and clearly very heart-warming for him to see it come to such splendid fruition. We thought the staging and lighting was brilliant and really brought the book to life.
The play is now on a record breaking tour around the UK, do catch it if you can! Here’s an extract from the review:
”Michael Harrison is a smart and wealthy young property developer, about to tie the knot with his gorgeous secretary Ashley, played by the lovely Tina Hobley of Holby City. His stag night ends in a nightmare, though, when his friends bury him six feet deep in a coffin in Ashdown Forest, only to die in a car crash before they can return to release him. Cue a couple of hours of edge of the seat tension and thrills.”
We’ve also got some free copies of the ‘Dead Simple’ book for all guests here at Strawberry Fields, in case you haven’t caught the Roy Grace ‘bug’ yet!
Roy Grace Walking Tours
While on the subject of all things Roy Grace, Lyn Neville runs an excellent walking tour based on Peter James’ first two novels in his Roy Grace series, Dead Simple and Looking Good Dead. She walks right past our door (and points out the Strawberry Fields connection with ‘Want You Dead’) and you can visit the actual locations used in the novels, scenes of gruesome murders and discoveries, haunts of the criminals and many more intriguing places.
The walks take place on Saturdays between 3 – 5 pm and the next walk is on 30th May 2015. Contact Lyn at info@brightonwalks.com.
What’s next from Peter James?
We are looking forward to catching up with Peter again soon at the launch for the next in the series, ‘You Are Dead’, which will be published on 21 May. Look out for the battle at the top of the Best Seller lists – he got to number 2 last time. Peter also has a standalone Roy Grace ghost story which will come out on 22 October, just in time for Halloween.
